All animals that are looking for homes can be found on the website or on our social media pages. We do not have a "one size fits all" policy here at the sanctuary and every animal, adoptee and home is taken into consideration.
Once you have found a pet that captures your heart and you feel you match the criteria for them, you can request a questionnaire to be sent to you either via social media messaging or email. Please do not apply for a pet if you have a holiday booked in the next 3 months or are unable to take them in the immediate future.
When this is received and reviewed we will contact you if you are a suitable match or if we have any further questions. Please do not be offended if at this point you are turned down for a particular animal. It maybe that you just don't have the right home environment and it does not necessarily mean we wouldn't allow you to adopt another animal from us in the future.
After your questionnaire has been received and accepted we then request a virtual home check of your home. Details of this will be explained further during the application process.
If you live in rented accommodation please ensure you have permission to have a pet from your landlord, proof of this will need to be seen at this point before progressing on to the next stage of the adoption process.
If this stage is passed you are then invited to come and meet the animal at the Sanctuary in Lancing. (Slightly different for animals that are still abroad or at another location but again this will be discussed during the application process).
If this meeting is successful and both yourself and a member of the team are happy its a suitable match then you are able to secure the animal with a £50 non refundable deposit, this is deductible from the adoption fee at the end, but is not refunded in the event the adoption does not go through for whatever reason.
In the case of dog adoptions an in person home check would then be arranged.
Once a suitable day for collection has been arranged (within a week of the meeting unless previously agreed) a copy of the adoption contract will be emailed to you at least 2 days before so you can have a read through all the terms and conditions of the adoption and prepare your home accordingly. Within this email will be instructions for the collection appointment.
On the day of collection the contract will be signed and the remaining adoption fee is due.
As of April 2024 these fees are as follows:
Cats and Kittens under 1 year old - £225
Cats over 1 year - £200
Dogs and Puppies under 1 year old - £400
Dogs over 1 year - £350
These are the very minimum costs we can offer and even these do not cover all the expenses involved in getting the animals ready for adoption so anything more than this is always very gratefully received.
Once all the admin is out of the way you are then free to take your new fur baby to their forever home.
You will receive a lifetime of support from the sanctuary as well as being added to a Facebook group with previous Sasi Adoptees so you can post as many updates as you like - We always love seeing how they are getting on in their new lives.
